School and Library Sessions Information

I’m delighted to say that my husband, Stephen Hart, and I will be in country Victoria and Tasmania in August/September this year. We (one or both of us) will be available for school and library visits and workshops during that time.

We won’t be charging for travel or accommodation, just the normal daily rates as set by the Australian Society of Authors. This is basically $705 (inc. GST) per day. If you want both of us, rates will be negotiated

We can arrange special rates for small schools, and I’m also happy to speak to large groups – there’s no real limit to the size, as long as there’s a good PA system. We will see what interest there is and then do an itinerary. There will be some flexibility as to dates, but we won’t be available on 23-24th August. When you contact us, please let us know if there are dates which you absolutely can’t do.

Since I also write for adults as Pamela Hart, I’m happy to also do evening or lunchtime talks for adults, or meet with book or writing groups, etc. If you’d like to discuss this with us, please email contact@pamelafreemanbooks.com.

We are so looking forward to our trip and to meeting all the kids along the way!

Talks and workshops

Whole-school talks or class/small group workshops

Pamela is happy to talk to whole-year groups or multi-class groups (Meet The Author talk), or to do single-class or small-group workshops. She’s also happy to do whole-school Meet the Author talks if there’s a decent PA system – there is no upper limit on numbers for this kind of talk.

As an experienced teacher of writing, she can tailor workshops to the school’s or group’s needs/specific Stages. Suggested talks include:

Meet The Author (45 min.)
How a book is made (featuring Dry to Dry or Seed to Sky; 45 min.) Storytime (for K-2; 30 min.).

Suggested workshops include:
Character development (45 min-1.5 hrs)
Description (45 min-1.5 hrs)
Structure (45 min-1.5 hrs)
From Character to Story (half-day workshop)
Re-drafting for teachers (a staff development workshop; student’s story examples provided beforehand).

Since Pamela will be travelling with her husband, Stephen Hart, who is also a children’s writer, it’s possible to have both Pamela and Stephen for whole-school or multi-class Meet The Authors talks, or for Stephen to also do small group workshops.

Stephen has taught writing at the Australian Writers’ Centre.

Rates

Pamela and Stephen charge ASA rates, which can be found here. However, please note that they will NOT be charging for travel or accommodation, just the daily rates (discount if you want both of us). Small schools should contact Pamela to discuss special rates.
